  • Day 1: Arrival in Tirana - Let the Albanian Adventure Begin!

    Our staff, your tour coordinator from Up Albania, will welcome you at the airport and provide a brief orientation. During this, you will receive detailed itinerary information, important contact numbers, an Albanian map, and, if desired, a mobile phone with a prepaid Albanian SIM card to stay connected throughout your journey.
    The organization of the first day will depend on your hour of arrival. The first day's final destination is Shkodra, 2 hours from Tirana. If there is time, you can visit Tirana, where you can immerse yourself in its rich history and culture. Explore iconic sites such as Skanderbeg Square, the Et'hem Bey Mosque, and Bunk'Art.
    If there’s no time, transfer directly from the airport to Shkodra. It is recommended to hire a rental car. If time permits in Shkodra, visit Rozafa Castle or the Marubi National Museum of Photography, a unique Albanian photographic collection.
    Your day concludes in Shkodra with a relaxing evening, a walk along the promenade, and dinner in one of the local restaurants.

  • Day 2: Theth - The Heart of the Albanian Alps

    In the morning, after breakfast, you will embark on a scenic journey to Theth National Park, nestled in the Albanian Alps and surrounded by mountain peaks exceeding 2,000 meters. You will have the opportunity to hike through the region’s natural wonders, including a visit to the peaceful Thethi Church, a late-19th-century stone-and-shingle structure with a rustic wooden cross.
    Continue your exploration at the Reconciliation Tower, where a local guide will share insights about the Kanun, a collection of customary laws that have shaped life in these mountainous areas for centuries. The cost for this activity is 5 EUR per person (not included in the tour price), and we will arrange your visit time accordingly.
    As the sun sets, return to Shkodra. The evening is yours to enjoy—whether you choose a traditional restaurant for dinner or take a leisurely evening stroll.

  • Day 3: Shkodra - Local Tastes, Images, and Artistry

    Spend the morning exploring Shkodra. If you missed it on Day 1, consider visiting the Marubi Museum or the Mesi Bridge, an 18th-century structure renowned for its unique architecture.
    Continue your day with a visit to the Venice Art Masks Factory, where you’ll learn about the creation of handmade masks. (Price for a guided visit: 5 EUR per person).
    Afterward, depart from Shkodra and stop at Mrizi i Zanave agritourism in Fishtë village, a model of sustainable tourism and Albanian slow food. You will enjoy a lunch featuring dishes made with local ingredients and the chef's creative touch. (Lunch is included in the tour package price.)
    Your trip continues to Kruja (1-hour transfer from Fishtë), where you will visit the Skanderbeg Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, and the Old Bazaar, where you can discover local crafts, including the traditional wool "qeleshe" skull cap.

  • Day 4: Berat – Art, Wine, and Old Ruins

    After breakfast in Kruja, depart for Berat (2h 15m). Explore Berat Castle, its ancient walls, and the St. Mary Church. Visit the Onufri Museum to view religious icons and manuscripts.
    You’ll also visit a traditional house in Berat (our local partner), where you’ll learn about the stories and traditions of the local people.
    Next, you will transfer drive to a nearby village to visit a local winery and agritourism. Here, you'll savor a farm-to-table lunch (included) featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy a tasting of their finest wines and traditional raki, immersing yourself in the region’s rich culinary and winemaking traditions.
    Continue your journey toward Vlora. If time permits, visit Apollonia Archaeological Park or Zvernec Island in the Narta Lagoon, with its serene Zvernec Monastery.
    Enjoy a relaxing evening in Berat, with the option to explore the town, take a stroll along the Osum River, or relax in a cozy café.

  • Day 5: Llogara Park & Riviera Adventure

    On Day 5, your trip along the beautiful Albanian Riviera begins. Start with a transfer to Dhërmi, one of Albania's most famous beaches, known for its clear turquoise waters. Spend the day relaxing on the beach or visit the charming Old Dhërmi village to walk through its narrow streets and see St. Mary’s Church, which sits on a hill with amazing views of the village. For lunch, enjoy fresh seafood at a restaurant by the sea or try traditional food at a local taverna in the village.
    Alternatively, if you seek more adventure, consider hiking to the stunning Gjipe Beach—a hidden gem often regarded as one of Albania's most beautiful beaches. The hike takes approximately 30 minutes, or you can opt to reach it by kayak or boat starting from Dhermi.
    Before the day ends transfer to Himara and enjoy e relaxing evening by the sea walking in the city promenade.
    Optional: To reach Dhermi, we suggest taking the route through Llogara National Park. You will enjoy a scenic drive through pine forests, with fresh air and breathtaking views at Llogara Pass, one of the most stunning viewpoints in Albania

  • Day 6: Coastal Relax and Historical Treasures

    You will leave Himara, heading south towards Saranda. On the way, you can choose to dedicate the entire day to relaxing on the beach, or mix it up by spending the first part of the day at the beach and the second part visiting the stunning Upper Qeparo village. The beach we suggest for today is Porto Palermo, where you'll also find a castle, home to the historic Ali Pasha Castle. Explore this unique triangular fortress and learn about the life and legacy of Ali Pasha Tepelena, an influential Albanian ruler of the 18th and 19th centuries.
    If you choose to visit the village of Upper Qeparo, wandering through this picturesque village feels like stepping into a storybook, where every corner reflects the charm and authenticity of rural life. You can also enjoy lunch at a traditional taverna in the village.
    Optional: For adventure lovers, we recommend:
    a. Boat Trip Along the Albanian Riviera: Explore pristine beaches, untouched bays, Jale Beach, Gjipe Beach and Canyon, the Pirate’s Cave, and Grama Bay, a natural marvel in the Karaburun Peninsula. (Difficulty: Moderate; Sailing: 56 km/30.2 nm; approx. 2.5 hours; Price: 60 EUR/person);
    b. Hiking with a Shepherd: Spend a day in the mountains walking alongside a shepherd, learning about the ancient transhumance tradition, and immersing in the pastoral lifestyle.   • Day 7: Butrint and Ksamil – Ancient Ruins and Crystal Waters

    Start your day with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Butrint. Explore the ancient ruins of this once-thriving Roman city surrounded by stunning natural landscapes.
    Afterward, head to Ksamil for a relaxing afternoon by the crystal-clear waters. You can rent a kayak, swim, or simply relax at one of the local beach bars.

    b) After exploring Butrint, you can include in you trip the Mussel Tour, a boat trip in Butrint lake. During the trip, you will learn about mussel farming from local guides and enjoy a mussel-themed lunch, featuring dishes made from freshly harvested mussels. (Price: 30 EUR/person + lunch).     In the evening, return to Saranda for dinner and a chance to explore the vibrant local nightlife.

  • Day 8: Gjirokastra – The Stone City

    Drive to Gjirokastra, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, often referred to as "The Stone City." Begin your exploration with a visit to Gjirokastra Castle, which houses a fascinating arms museum and offers incredible views of the surrounding valley.
    Stroll through the old bazaar and explore the historic Ottoman-style houses, such as the Skenduli or Zekate House. If you’re interested in local cuisine, you can try traditional dishes like “byrek”, “tave kosi”, "qifqi" at a local restaurant.
    After lunch you will continue with “Dressing like locals” experience (included in the tour price), an amazing authentic experience by dressing up in traditional Albanian attire, arranged through one of our local artisan partners. Men can wear the fustanella, a classic skirt-like garment from medieval times, while women can enjoy the elegance of a beautifully embroidered dress and headscarf. Then, dressed in these unique outfits, take a walk through the cobblestone streets of the Old Bazaar, capturing stunning photos of the vibrant surroundings and timeless atmosphere.

  • Day 9: Përmet – Thermal Springs and Nature

    Depart for Përmet (1 hour), known as the "City of Roses" and a hub for eco-tourism. Visit the city
    Afterward, drive along the Vjosa River canyon to visit the healing Bënja thermal waters (1 hour). Along the way, you'll have the chance to explore the ancient Katiu Bridge and marvel at the stunning Langarica Canyon. Once at Bënja, you can relax in the warm, mineral-rich thermal baths, cherished by locals for their therapeutic properties, especially for ailments like rheumatism and skin conditions. Take a refreshing dip in the waters and experience the perfect combination of nature and wellness.
    In the afternoon, you will travel to your next destination for an overnight stay at a rural guesthouse near Shelegur village, a tranquil retreat surrounded by nature.

    1. Visit Leusa Village, located about two kilometers away, where you can admire Saint Mary's Church, known for its beautiful and colorful frescoes, often called the Albanian "Sistine Chapel." The visit includes transportation and guidance provided by our local partner using 4x4 vehicles (20-minute drive, Price: 15 EUR/person).

    Depart for Korça, a city renowned for its rich culture and serenades. The mountain drive is breathtaking, with sweeping views of the Nemercka and Gramos ranges. En route, stop briefly in Ersekë, Albania's highest town at 1,050m, surrounded by the lush pastures of the Gramos Mountains.
    Upon arrival in Korça, visit the National Museum of Medieval Art to admire an impressive collection of Byzantine and medieval artifacts, including intricate icons and religious art.
    Next, explore the lively Old Bazaar, known for its traditional shops and vibrant charm. Don’t miss the stunning Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection. For a taste of Korça, enjoy a beer at the Korça Brewery or try local specialties like "lakror," a savory pie.
    In the evening, immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this cultural gem.
    Optional: Add a visit to the picturesque village of Voskopoja to explore historic churches or enjoy a nature hike. Alternatively, you can choose to stay overnight in Voskopoja instead of Korça. This must be decided in advance during trip planning to allow us, sufficient time for adjustments.

  • Day 11: Pogradec & Ohrid – A Lakeside Journey

    Drive to Pogradec, a charming town on the shores of Lake Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the oldest lake in Europe. Stroll along the promenade, visit the Drilon National Park, and explore the picturesque village of Tushemisht.
    Indulge in fresh fish dishes, such as "koran" (Ohrid trout), at a lakeside restaurant. History enthusiasts can visit the Lin Peninsula to discover ancient mosaics and archaeological remains.
    In the afternoon, transfer to Ohrid, crossing the border into North Macedonia. On the way, make a short stop at the Monastery of Saint Naum by the lake.

    This tour is rated as easy, but good health is recommended. The hikings in Theth Gjipe (optional), and the walks in Kruja, Berat and Gjirokastra castles, are manageable but require some effort, especially in the hot summer months.
  • BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
    This tour can be done year-round, but it is best enjoyed from early April to the end of October. During the winter months, some adjustments to the program may be needed depending on weather conditions like rain or cold.

    PAYMENT AND CANCELATION POLICY Payments: A 20% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. The remaining 80% balance is due 45 days before the tour departure. For shorter trips (3 days or less), the balance is due 20 days before the tour departure. Cancellations & Refunds: 70 days or more before departure: 100% refund of the deposit amount paid. 69–45 days before departure: Loss of the 20% deposit. 30–44 days before departure: Loss of 30% of the total tour price. 15–29 days before departure: Loss of 50% of the total tour price. 8–14 days before departure: Loss of 75% of the total tour price. 7 days or less before departure: Loss of 100% of the total tour price (no refund). Postponements: If you wish to postpone instead of cancel, you can do so free of charge up to 45 days prior to departure, and all payments will be credited toward future travel.
