  • Day 1: Arrival in Tirana Airport & Drive to Berat (Optional Visit to Kruja or Tirana)

    Let the Albanian Adventure Begin!
    Upon arrival at Tirana International Airport, you’ll pick up your pre-arranged car. After a brief orientation, our tour organizer will meet you for a kick-off meeting, where you'll receive detailed itinerary information, important contact numbers, an Albanian map, and, if desired, a mobile phone with a prepaid Albanian SIM card to stay connected throughout your journey.
    Depending on your arrival time, consider stopping in Kruja, just an hour’s drive from Tirana, to visit the Skanderbeg Museum and enjoy a quick lunch. Alternatively, if time permits, you can explore Tirana’s highlights before continuing your journey to Berat.
    Arrive in Berat, a UNESCO city full of history and charm. In the evening, take a relaxing walk around the town and enjoy a tasty dinner at a local restaurant.

  • Day 2: Berat, Roshnik village, and Apollonia: Wine, Art, and Ancient Ruins

    Start your day by visiting Berat, the UNESCO-listed "City of a Thousand Windows." You will explore the 2,400-year-old Berat Castle, perched on the eastern bank of the Osum River, with a guided tour provided by our local collaborator. Inside the castle, you will visit the Church of St. Mary of Blachernae and admire the works of the famous 16th-century Albanian icon painter Onufri.
    Next, you will drive to Roshnik village, nestled at the foot of Mount Tomorri, where you will enjoy a visit to Alpeta Agritourism and Winery. Here, you will savor delicious local wines and a farm-to-table lunch (included), including a tasting of their finest wines and traditional raki.
    Afterward, continue your journey towards the Albanian Riviera, stopping at Apollonia, an ancient archaeological site. You will explore its rich history, from Greek origins to Roman expansion under Julius Caesar. The day concludes with a 1-hour drive to Llogara National Park, where you can relax and enjoy the stunning natural surroundings.

  • Day 3: Albanian Riviera: Exploring Coastal Delights

    Start your day with a peaceful stroll, enjoying the fresh morning air and the soothing sounds of nature, the perfect way to relax and begin your journey. You can also opt for a walk in the forest or a yoga activity for a more immersive experience.

    After breakfast, head south along the stunning Albanian Riviera, where rugged mountains meet the Ionian Sea. On your way to Ali Pasha Castle at Porto Palermo Bay, you will pass through picturesque coastal villages like Dhermi and Himara. At the unique triangular castle, you’ll learn about Ali Pasha Tepelena, an influential figure of 18th and 19th-century Albania with historical ties to Napoleon and Lord Nelson. Enjoy some free time on the beach, with the option to swim and relax by the sea.

    Next, visit the charming village of Upper Qeparo, perched 300 meters above sea level and offering some of the Riviera's most breathtaking views. Wander through this partially abandoned village, where time seems to stand still. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local Qeparo restaurant, tasting the region’s authentic flavors.

    The day concludes with an overnight stay in Saranda. You’ll have free time to explore the town, stroll along the promenade, enjoy the sea breeze, and savor fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants.

  • Day 4: Butrint: Ancient Marvels and Natural Wonders!

    Your day begins with a self-guided visit to Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site with prehistoric origins. Originally settled by the Illyrian Chaonian tribe, Butrint later became a Roman colony and bishopric. Cicero praised its beauty during the first century B.C., and it was known for its high standard of living.
    Next, you will take a boat trip (arranged in advance by our specialized local partners) to explore Butrint Lake and its 'Queen'—the mussel. During the trip, you will learn about mussel farming from local guides and enjoy a mussel-themed lunch, featuring dishes made from freshly harvested mussels.
    Continuing your journey, you will head to Gjirokastra, another UNESCO site, and stop by the Blue Eye natural spring. Once in Gjirokastra, you will check into a boutique hotel in the heart of the old Ottoman-style city. In the evening, you will have free time to explore the Old Bazaar, taking in its lively atmosphere and enjoying traditional cuisine at one of the local restaurants.

  • Day 5: Gjirokastra: Castle, Old Bazaar and Frescoes

    On the fifth day, you will explore Gjirokastra, a UNESCO-listed city known for its stunning stone architecture and rich cultural heritage. In the morning, you will meet our local partner guide, who will lead a half-day tour of the city. The first stop will be the Castle of Gjirokastra, the second-largest fortress in the Balkans. This 12th-13th century site, now a museum, offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscapes.
    Next, you will visit the Skenduli House, a beautifully restored Ottoman-era home in Gjirokastra's old town, where you'll learn about the traditional life of its former inhabitants. After this guided tour, you will have free time to explore the Old Bazaar on your own and choose a restaurant for lunch.
    In the afternoon, you will continue your self-guided journey to Labova e Kryqit, where you will visit the 6th-century Saint Mary Church, renowned for its Byzantine frescoes and architecture from the 9th-11th centuries.
    You will return to Gjirokastra for your second night in the city.

  • Day 6: Dhoksat: Cobblestones and hand-on cooking

    After a final exploration of the Gjirokastra Old Bazaar for shopping and gifts, your Albanian adventure continues with a rural exploration guided by our local partner. One of the highlights will be a visit to the village of Dhoksat, where you’ll immerse yourself in the warmth of a local family (our partner). You’ll take part in a hands-on cooking experience and enjoy a delicious lunch. Before your culinary adventure, the family owner will guide you on a brief exploration of Dhoksat, allowing you to discover the rich history of this charming and authentic village.
    After lunch, you will head towards Përmet, a peaceful town located by the Vjosa River, one of Europe's last pristine rivers. The scenic drive will take you through the stunning Vjosa canyons, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
    Upon arrival in Përmet, you will check into your hotel and have free time to relax or explore the city center at your leisure. In the evening, you can choose one of the local restaurants to enjoy a delicious dinner.

  • Day 7: Përmet: Vjosa River Wellness Experience

    Day 7 begins with a visit to the Vjosa River and the therapeutic Bënja thermal waters. Departing from Përmet, you will explore the ancient Katiu Bridge, marvel at the Langarica Canyon, and experience the healing thermal baths of Bënja, just 13 km from Përmet. These warm, mineral-rich waters are renowned for their therapeutic properties, helping with conditions such as rheumatism and skin ailments. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit—take a refreshing dip and enjoy the perfect mix of nature and wellness.
    After lunch at one of the local restaurants in the Bënja area, you will head towards Tirana, Albania’s vibrant capital. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel in the city center and have some free time to relax or explore.

  • Day 8: Farwell & Departure

    Enjoy a relaxed morning in Tirana, with free time to explore the city at your leisure. You can immerse yourself in its rich history and culture with a self-guided walk to iconic landmarks such as Skanderbeg Square, the Et'hem Bey Mosque, and Bunk’Art.
    Later, you will head to the airport, where you’ll return your rental car. Our tour coordinator will be there to meet you for a final check-in, where you can share your feedback on the tour and receive assistance with your departure process.
    As you say goodbye to Tirana, you’ll carry with you the spirit of Albania, promising to return for more adventures and lasting memories.

    This tour is rated as easy, but good health is recommended. The walks in Kruja, Berat and Gjirokastra castles, are manageable but require some effort, especially in the hot summer months. Additionally, some days require drives of 2-4 hours in a row, which may be physically demanding for the driver.
  • BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
    This tour can be done year-round, but it is best enjoyed from early March to the end of November. During the winter months, some adjustments to the program may be needed depending on weather conditions like rain or cold.

    We’ve carefully selected boutique hotels to ensure comfort and a unique experience that complements the essence of our tour. Our accommodations are conveniently located in vibrant city centers (Tirana, Berat, Saranda, Gjirokastra) as well as picturesque countryside settings (Llogara). Please note that during the high season (June - August), the list of accommodations may vary, but we will ensure that similar quality hotels are provided. We recommend booking in advance to avoid challenges with reservations during peak periods.     • This is a private drive-yourself tour, meaning you will not be mixed with other travelers. • This is a partially guided tour, meaning you will not have a guide accompanying you for the entire trip. However, local guides, our partners will lead and assist you in exploring the main historical cities and attractions. • For groups larger than eight, you will need to be split into more cars. If you prefer to stay together as a group in one vehicle, a van or mini-bus a local driver can be added to accompany you. Please contact us for special arrangements. • Driving License: All participants intending to drive must possess a valid driving license. An International Driving Permit (IDP) may be required for non-EU citizens. • Car Selection: The type of car you select for the tour must match the driver's experience and comfort level. • Our cars come with Rental Car Insurance: TPL Insurance (standard coverage) is included in the tour price. Full Casco Insurance is not included but can be added for an additional supplement, available upon request, offering 100% coverage in the event of an accident, excluding abusive damage or loss of keys. • Fuel and Mileage: Fuel is not included in the tour price, and you will be responsible for fuel costs during your trip. The car comes with a full tank at the start of the tour. • Driving Conditions: Albania has well-maintained roads in urban areas, but rural roads may be less developed. Please drive with caution, particularly in mountainous regions. • Roadbook and Mobile Phone: You will receive a detailed electronic roadbook and a mobile phone with an Albanian SIM card for easy navigation and emergency contact. • Parking and Traffic: Pay attention to local parking regulations and traffic rules, as violations may result in fines. • Road Assistance: 24-hour roadside assistance is available if needed during the tour. • Suitable for age 6+. • Tour’s schedule or itinerary may be affected/adopted due to; weather, Acts of God, labour strikes, bank holidays, site temporary closure/renovation or other external forces outside the Company’s control. • If you arrive or depart from an airport other than Tirana, we can advise you on the best transportation options available.   • PAYMENT AND CANCELATION POLICY
    PAYMENT AND CANCELATION POLICY Payments: A 20% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. The remaining 80% balance is due 45 days before the tour departure. For shorter trips (3 days or less), the balance is due 20 days before the tour departure. Cancellations & Refunds: 70 days or more before departure: 100% refund of the deposit amount paid. 69–45 days before departure: Loss of the 20% deposit. 30–44 days before departure: Loss of 30% of the total tour price. 15–29 days before departure: Loss of 50% of the total tour price. 8–14 days before departure: Loss of 75% of the total tour price. 7 days or less before departure: Loss of 100% of the total tour price (no refund). Postponements: If you wish to postpone instead of cancel, you can do so free of charge up to 45 days prior to departure, and all payments will be credited toward future travel. Note: Paying with a credit or debit card is not possible at the moment. We accept payments in Euros and the best payment method is via bank transfer or cash.
